Net Promoter Score (NPS) is an attempt to distill into a single value, what users of a company’s products think of it. Users are asked a single question along the lines of “How likely are you to recommend this product to a friend or coworker?”, which is the question used by the UserStories.com website. A product’s NPS is determined by subtracting the percentage of people unlikely to recommend the product (0-6) from those likely to do so (9-10). A more detailed description including examples is also available.
Timeboxing is a time management technique common in software development projects to plan out a project, for example the creation of a new IT system, by splitting the project up in a number of separate time periods (normally two to six weeks long). Each part has its own deadline and its own budget. By incrementally finishing one part at a time, a project can be successfully delivered.
The important thing about timeboxing is that the dates are not flexible, but the deliverables are. Without time boxing, when the deliverables cannot be delivered, the deadline slips. With time boxing, the deadline is fixed, and the deliverables are adjusted. This goes hand-in-hand with MoSCoW prioritization of deliverables. Timeboxing is a core element of the Rapid Application Development, (RAD), software development process and of DSDM, (Dynamic Systems Development Method).
According to DSDM , timeboxing is "a process by which defined objectives are reached at pre-determined and immovable dates through continuous prioritisation and flexing of requirements."
TimeBox Manager is a Windows application for managing a project or event where the timeboxing technique is in use. This technique ensures delivery on time and to a high quality by allowing scope changes during the timebox. It is ideally suited for use in agile systems development using methodologies such as DSDM.
Timebox Manager benefits both large corporations and smaller companies. It is valuable for:
